Marketing Land has released their round-up of the most popular Digital Advertising articles of 2016, and Magnetic’s CEO James Green has made the list (twice)!

The year’s most popular Display Advertising column is a story whose end hasn’t yet been written. As we go into 2017, it remains to be seen whether Verizon’s planned purchase of Yahoo will actually go forward despite two big hacking admissions from the internet company. According to page views and social shares, James’ August column, How Verizon’s Yahoo Buy Will Reshape the Digital Ad Marketplace, was the #1 Digital Advertising article of 2016!
The column focused on the activity in MarTech and AdTech industries where companies come together to combine technologies in hopes of offering greater scale and reach to marketers. These acquisitions and mergers generally follow a common theme – bigger and better data sets, more channels and deeper views of customers.

Recognized as #4 for MarTech Today’s Most Read Columns of 2016
James made another Top 10 list in 2016 with his article, Why Agencies and Marketers Need to Think and Act Like Data Companies. This article placed #4 on MarTech Today’s list of most page views for marketing technology columns.
James shares his views on the industry’s increasing pressure for agencies to supply real-time data and analytics to their clients. Quality data is tilting the balance of power and transforming the advertising industry and it is important that agencies are keeping up with their client’s demands.
We should expect the same transformations — as we’ve seen through other innovations — with data. As agencies integrate more data from their customers into their systems, they will be better equipped to be the marketing partner that brands want and need.
