At Magnetic, community involvement is something we are very passionate about. Most non-profit organizations can gain great rewards by having a professionally designed website that offers clear information about their mission, donation procedures and volunteer opportunities. We have often found that our time and professional services make the best donation.
As a family-oriented workplace, Magnetic tends to focus on charities and organizations that help children and families in need. We also encourage our employees to become active in the community and support a charity of their choice.
How We've Already Helped
- Ken Bakunas, CTO of Magnetic, formed First Book-Tampa Bay, where he serves as the Chair for the Advisory Board. This national non-profit organization has the single goal of giving children from low-income families the opportunity to read and own their first new books. The goal of First Book-Tampa Bay is to deliver a book a month to thousands of the area's children most in need at educational institutions and other non-profit organizations. The board currently consists of volunteers from Magnetic's team, business partners, clients and viable community members. To learn more about this organization, or to find how you can help with this cause, visit the First Book website.
- Jennifer Bakunas, President & CEO of Magnetic, joined the Board of Directors of the New Tampa Family YMCA in 2005 and served as the Chairperson of the Board from 2008-2009. Magnetic sponsored the New Tampa YMCA's inaugural fundraising event and participated on the planning committee to help secure more than $30,000 in donated auction items and raise over $60,000 in sponsorship money. The money raised went toward funding scholarships for the "We Build People" campaign, part of the YMCA's continuing mission to accept all children regardless of their financial circumstances.
- Heather Andrews, Director of Marketing & Client Services at Magnetic, volunteers time to providing effective marketing strategies to the community, small businesses and non-profit organizations. Specifically, Heather works on a volunteer Marketing Committee for the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay. Heather also volunteers time to speak at events in the community and is in the process of coordinating marketing seminars in the area to reach students and business owners. Heather is dedicated to being a part of the success of business in Tampa Bay by helping other’s learn about Internet marketing and how to increase their online presence.
- Magnetic developed a complete website for A Kid's Place, a non-profit agency whose mission is to protect and care for neglected and abused children who have been removed from their homes. A Kid's Place provides comfort and safety in a stable and nurturing environment at a critical time. Since launching the website, Magnetic has also provided donated services for web hosting and ongoing maintenance of the website.
- Magnetic supports the TBTF Foundation’s efforts to help local youth achieve their dreams of pursuing a college degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM). Jennifer Jackson volunteers as a student mentor for the TBTF Foundation Scholarship Program, which provides college scholarships to at risk 6th – 12th grade students in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties. Each week, Jennifer meets with the same scholarship recipient to help her develop the tools needed to prepare for higher education and beyond.
- Magnetic developed a complete website for the International Children's Ergonomics Foundation (ICEF), a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting ergonomics education for school-age children, young adults, parents and educators. Since 2002, Magnetic has provided free of charge to ICEF domain names, website development, and web hosting.
Magnetic's general policy is to offer an automatic 10% discount on all our services to non-profit organizations.
Community Outreach
The Magnetic management team is available to speak to community groups and organizations on website related topics. We believe in the value of providing honest and helpful information about our industry to the community as a whole, not just our clients.
