Magnetic Redesigns the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce Web Site

(Tampa, FL - March 30, 2005) - Magnetic, a Tampa Web development company and expert in search engine marketing, recently completed the redesign of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce's Web site (www.tampachamber.com). In response to the increasing number of businesses using the Internet for site selection research, the new Chamber Web site offers valuable information about Tampa and Hillsborough County to businesses and site selection consultants looking to relocate or open a new facility.

"We chose Magnetic specifically for their expertise in Web development and search engine marketing," said Kim Scheeler, CEO of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce. "It is essential that businesses looking to relocate to Florida find our Web site through the search engines quickly and easily."

The new economic development section of the site allows visitors to select specific and relevant information through a Customized Site Selection tool. This easy process produces a downloadable fact sheet containing specific demographic and statistical information about the workforce, incentives, taxes, education, and quality of life in the Tampa area.

In addition, the Tampa Chamber's Web site is now Section 508 compliant, a government Web site accessibility standard for people with disabilities. The new site offers visitors easy navigation, a site search feature, printer-friendly versions of each page, and the opportunity to email someone using the "Tell a Friend" feature.

New easy-to-use features for the Chamber's staff include:
  • A content management system that keeps the site up-to-date and relevant for visitors;
  • A banner ad management program that allows for the placement of banner ads on the site and uses a tracking system to set the ad rates and collect statistics on each banner ad;
  • A survey builder program that creates a survey, posts it to the site, and tracks the results.
"We listened to the Chamber's specific business and marketing needs -- to build awareness around what Tampa offers as a community and to encourage businesses to consider Tampa when looking to relocate or expand their operations," said Ken Bakunas, CEO of Magnetic. "We succeeded by creating a user-friendly site that provides up-to-date information on the programs, services, and events of the Chamber and facilitates more dynamic communications between the Chamber and its Web site visitors."

Magnetic plans to launch an aggressive search engine marketing campaign to secure top rankings in all the major search engines. Magnetic is also hosting the site and providing training to the Chamber's staff on the proper use of the content management system, the survey builder, and the banner ad management system.

About Section 508
In 1998, Congress amended the Rehabilitation Act to require Federal agencies to make their electronic and information technology accessible to people with disabilities. The law applies to all Federal agencies when they develop, procure, maintain, or use electronic and information technology. Under Section 508, agencies must give disabled employees and members of the public access to information that is comparable to the access available to others.
