Magnetic Wins Tampa Bay Business Journal's "Best Places to Work" Award Receiving the Highest Score of the Four Category Winners
(Tampa, FL - April 17, 2006) - Magnetic, a Tampa Web Development firm, recently received the number one ranking in the Nearly Big category (10 to 25 employees) at the Tampa Bay Business Journal's 2006 "Best Places to Work" awards. In addition, Magnetic received a 99.69, the highest score of the four category winners.
"We are honored to receive this type of recognition from our employees," said Ken Bakunas, CEO of Magnetic. "It further validates our mission to offer a fun and rewarding work environment that attracts and retains the best talent."
The Tampa Bay Business Journal's second annual "Best Places to Work" awards recognized the top 49 companies in four categories - Nearly Big, Big, Bigger, and Biggest - based on the number of employees. The rankings of the 49 winners were announced at a luncheon on April 13, 2006 at the Doubletree Hotel Tampa Airport.
Neither the Tampa Bay Business Journal staff nor a panel of judges subjectively decided which companies to honor. Kansas-based Quantum Market Research, an independent firm, administered surveys to employees at the nominated companies. Anonymous employee responses and a rigorous statistical process determined the rankings.
Based on the measurement of 40 attributes know to drive employee satisfaction, each survey included questions, each with a value of 1 to 6 points. The 39 questions were broken down into 10 different categories: team effectiveness, retention risk, alignment with goals, trust with co-workers, individual contribution, manager effectiveness, trust in senior leaders, feeling valued, work engagement, and people practices.
To calculate the scores, all the survey responses were added together and divided by the total number of questions from all surveys completed by each company's employees.
Magnetic operates out of its own building in the Tampa Palms Professional Center. The new facility offers an open floor plan, big windows, ergonomic lighting, and an outside deck overlooking a lake.
"There is a reason that we can boast practically zero turnover in a highly competitive market," said Jennifer Bakunas, President of Magnetic. "We strive to put ourselves in the shoes of our employees every day to make this a place where people can be productive but still enjoy themselves."
