Magnetic Places 1st In Gasparilla 15K Race Mixed Team Division

TAMPA, Fla. – March 1, 2010 – Magnetic placed 1st in the 2010 Gasparilla Distance Classic 15 kilometer race (mixed team division) held in Tampa this past Saturday. With their overall time of 3:41:28, Magnetic bettered second-place Dunn & Co. by almost forty minutes.Magnetic Mixed Team #1 Racers

Almost fifty percent of the Magnetic staff participated in teams that raced either the fifteen or five kilometer distances that started in Downtown Tampa and ran along scenic Bayshore Boulevard.  Cool temperatures, light wind, and even rain greeted the runners as they raced with thousands of other runners on this early February morning.

“We are also really very proud of all our employees who ran in the 5k race. They all did great,” said Bakunas. Magnetic’s two 5k teams placed tenth and sixteenth in the Mixed Team division.

The Gasparilla Distance Classic is a weekend-long running festival with fifteen and five kilometer races on Saturday and a full and half marathon on Sunday. Races run through downtown Tampa, Bayshore Boulevard, Davis Island, and up to MacDill Air Force Base. For more than thirty years, participants from all over the globe have descended on Tampa Bay to run in this hugely popular event.
