Magnetic’s President Selected for 2010 Class of Leadership Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. – (August 31, 2009) – The Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce announced the latest members of its Leadership Tampa program. Through the program, the Chamber seeks to recognize and support emerging community leaders in the Tampa area. Magnetic President Jennifer Bakunas was named among the 2010 Leadership Tampa class.
Participants in Leadership Tampa undergo a rigorous selection process, which is reviewed by an appointed selection committee. All members of Leadership Tampa are business professionals in mid- to upper-management positions. They consistently show concern for community issues and actively volunteer with service organizations.
Bakunas was appointed to Leadership Tampa for her role in the Tampa YMCA, where she is the Chairperson of the Board of Directors. In this position, she leads fundraising efforts of more than $150,000 annually. Bakunas also sits on the Board of Directors for the Tampa Bay CEO Council. “My position as a business leader is what enables me to contribute to the community through service. It’s an honor to be recognized by the Chamber as a leader in bringing these facets together,” said Bakunas.
Members of the group will meet bi-weekly for panel discussions and question-and-answer sessions with top-level government, civic, and business leaders. Bakunas looks forward to working with other local activists and leaders; “It will be a great honor to meet with people who have truly made this community their life’s work,” she said, “Leadership Tampa gives us a unique and wonderful opportunity to meet the people who impact our daily lives, and who can help us do the same for others.”
This year’s class represents Leadership Tampa’s 39th successful year, making it the third oldest program of its kind in the nation. The program is a natural extension of the Chamber’s mission: to enhance its members’ success by connecting them to valuable resources and giving them an active voice in the community.
