The newsroom is abuzz with all of the ways artificial intelligence will take over the world – including everyone’s jobs. Plenty of professions will change drastically, but little attention has been given to one of the occupations that faces the greatest threat: Fortune Tellers.
We’ll be blunt – the outlook is bleak for professionals like Madame Serena and Zoltar.
Artificial intelligence is changing the game of predictive analytics, empowering it to be faster and more accurate than ever before. Serena and Zoltar can’t compete with the precision power, statistical validity, and proven results of AI-powered predictive analytics.
It’s using historical data, advanced math, and the speed and intelligence of AI to make highly accurate predictions about what will happen in the future.
Basically, the historical data is fed into mathematical algorithms. The AI finds key trends, then applies those trends to new data to predict what will happen next.
With AI, predictive analytics becomes smarter and more actionable. The speed and smarts of AI means predictive models can account for an incredible volume of real-time information, so the AI can:
I don’t even follow sports, and even I heard about Google’s real-time NCAA predictions (as I am sure poor Zoltar did, too…). Google was so confident in the predictive validity of AI-powered Google Cloud, that it ran ads before the Michigan v. Loyola game that predicted game-related stats, like rebounds and shot attempts.
Just how accurate was it? (Serena and Zoltar, time to stop reading…):
AI is changing the game in more ways each day. In fact, while Fortune Tellers’ jobs are certainly in the high-risk category, Sports Bookies may not be far behind. At least the Fortune Tellers saw it coming.
