I can’t stop watching “makeover” TV shows. From “Extreme Home Makeover” to “Queer Eye,” makeover shows truly are the Lays Potato Chips of programming. And I’m not the only one who is craving transformation TV. HGTV’s “Fixer Upper” landed as one of the most-watched cable telecasts of Q2 2017, according to Nielsen data.
Be it our bodies, our brains, or our homes – we love to watch changes from bad to good. And in our highly-connected, fast paced lives, change is inevitable. For me, it results in growth and teaches me to be more flexible. For businesses, it paves the way for true innovation and fosters creativity, as companies learn new skills to stay competitive. It means progress. It means opportunity.
So today, let’s “MOVE THAT BUS” and look at two examples of how change has made things easier for us:
Technology has dramatically changed the way we access news today. In fact, 67% of American adults (more than two-thirds) “get at least some of their news on social media,” according to the . And with a president that tweets daily, it may not come as a surprise that many turn to the newsfeed as the one-stop shop for news by the second.
Mobile ticketing is making getting from point A to point B smarter, faster, and much less stressful. Save the barcode to your phone (or “Wallet” for you iPhone users out there), turn up your brightness, and scan your smartphone screen when you reach the attendant. You’ve got enough to worry about when traveling, so shuffling through your pockets need not be one.
Mobile ticketing is great for events as well. Companies like Eventbrite enable on-site ticket sales. If they are running large events with multiple entrances, organizers can see where queues are building up with real-time gate counts to identify bottlenecks and redirect traffic. Long lines are becoming a thing of the past.
So, whether it’s your body, brain, or abode: learn to embrace change. If not only because if there were no change, there would be no butterflies. And that would be super sad.
